Like Kate, I had a surprise pregnancy after having two with fertility treatments. When my youngest turned one, we moved to Spain to fulfill our dream of having them learn Spanish and know their dad’s native culture—and escape the crushing financial pressure in San Francisco. We went from paying $2500+ per month for childcare to having a daycare down the street that cost <$400 per month, meals included. That was 5 years ago.
